Two sweet little preschoolers met in a ballet class, but only later would they confide in each other that they were envious of the other’s tutu. After being placed into the same kindergarten class, Erica and Carley became inseparable- neither one knowing that this would truly become a lifelong friendship. All throughout elementary school (perhaps not by coincidence), they were lucky enough to be in all of the same classes. Life was filled with sleepovers every weekend, and coordinating halloween costumes!
Jump forward to middle school, where Carley was meant to attend a different school, but transferred just to stay with Erica. They remained inseparable, and began learning about depth in their friendship as they navigated the transition into young adulthood and kept one another afloat through trials and personal loss.
Heartbreak and devastation came at the end of eighth grade, when Erica had to break the news that her family would be moving from their California home to Idaho. They had always dreamed about attending high school and graduating together. But a bond like this one couldn’t be broken- through all four years of high school, their friendship remained as strong as ever. When asked why she considers Carley to be her best friend, Erica told me, “She has always been there for me, and still is, even though she lives hundreds of miles away. She is the one person that I can be my complete self with and who laughs at all my stupid jokes!”
Carley surprised Erica by coming all the way out to Idaho for her graduation, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do a photo shoot, which was an absolute joy! These two girls are filled with so much light and laughter, and I have no doubt that their friendship will continue as they soon head off to separate colleges. Erica, I am so blessed to have the sweetest sister anyone could ever ask for, and I hope you experience many more wonderful friendships throughout this next adventure on which life is taking you!
